It's been a long road for the next installment in the Rainbow Six series.
The shooter was originally scheduled to launch in the holiday 2020 season. At the time, it was titled Rainbow Six Quarantine — a title that quickly became awkward as the pandemic forced the world into lockdown. We wouldn't see the game again until E3 2021, where Ubisoft gave it a grand reveal. The newly named Rainbow Six Extraction was set to be a big fall release, landing on September 16.
Just one month later, Ubisoft shockingly delayed the game to January 2022, pushing it over a year past its original launch window. Gamescom Asia, the first Asian satellite event of the world's largest computer and video games festival, Gamescom, is set to launch its hybrid event from 14 to 17 October 2021 in Singapore. Cozy Grove is a bit Animal Crossing, a bit Spiritfarer, and a lot wholesome. You find yourself on an island full of animal ghosts that aren't shy about asking you to go scavenging for them. When you complete quests, the island will get bigger and more new pals will populate the world. One of this game's biggest selling points, perhaps, is how relaxed it is.
Like Nintendo's previously mentioned juggernaut, and 24, the events of Cozy Grove occur in real time. The dead will only give you a certain number of quests per day, so if you finish every job available to you today, you'll have to jump in again tomorrow to see more. However, there are so many video games out there, it becomes really a task to filter and select one out of the lot. There are PS4, Xbox One, Xbox One X/S, Nintendo Switch/Lite, and many other consoles.
Some are portable and handheld, while others are conventional gaming consoles with capacious storage memory. Decide on what you want and then select the right gaming console for yourself. Three different classes in a co-op RPG is one of many things that players love about Outriders. Other than that, the game offers incredible gameplay and customization, making it one of the most popular video games to play in 2021. If there's one video game that isn't ready to die, then it's Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 5.
The gigantic title was released in 2013 and is considered one of the last decade's most popular video games. It's a surprise that Minecraft, which released back in 2011, is one of the most popular video games of 2021. The video game had so much potential that Microsoft brought the game in 2014, and it looks like the tech giant was right. It comes as no big surprise that a Call of Duty title is still one of the most popular video games of 2021. Also, the fact that it is a free-to-play video game by Activision helped grab millions of players from around the world. While it was originally scheduled for a 2020 launch alongside the Xbox Series X debut, Microsoft delayed Halo Infiniteindefinitely.
We now know that the company is planning for a fall 2021 launch, putting it a full year out from its original release plan. Like many games on this list, it's not fully clear if the pandemic has been a key factor in Halo's delay. While companies like Ubisoft have been transparent about the struggles of work from home, others are a bit more tight-lipped about why the schedule shake-ups are happening. Whatever the case may be, Halo Infinite's delay is the most significant to occur yet. Now, it's set to hit Xbox consoles and PC on December 8, barring any additional delays. Not even Amazon is immune from the current game delay wave, though that may have less to do with COVID-19 than it does for other games on this list.
The company has been trying to break into gaming for quite some time now, with weak results. Its free-to-play multiplayer game Cruciblehad a particularly rocky life span after it was put back into beta and then outright canceled. Amazon's next game, New World, is having similar problems.
Originally scheduled to launch this spring, the game was pushed back to August 31 and then delayed again to September 28. Amazon says the decision was made to ensure the game had a proper endgame when it launched, so it's likely the studio is trying to avoid the same pitfalls games that Marvel's Avengers hit at launch. Originally positioned as one of the big games that would launch alongside next-gen consoles in late 2020, developer People Can Fly quietly pushed it back to February 2. As 2021 got into full gear, the game got delayed once again, this time to April 1.
Before the release, players got a demo on February 25 that covered the first few hours of the full game. Since the very beginning of the year, seemingly no title has been safe from a dreaded delay, as some of the year's biggest games move further down the line or to next year. That's led to a much slimmer release schedule than fans initially expected heading into what was projecting as an exciting year for gaming. Here's a roundup of all the major video game delays that have happened so far. 2021 will provide many new video game releases for PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC.

The gaming year as a whole hasn't been all that hype until now, so let's break down all the exciting releases that are set to drop in April. If you're looking for a new sci-fi looter shooter, a remaster of a classic JRPG, or a super chill game that's all about taking pictures of Pokémon, then the following lineup of games should definitely appeal to you.
The Nintendo Switch isn't the only console with an exclusive new game launching on April 30. PlayStation 5 gamers can look forward to the release ofReturnal, an intense-looking sci-fi shooter game that also features horror and roguelike elements. Developed byResogun studio Housemarque,Returnal looks to be one of the studio's most ambitious games, as well as one of the most impressive-looking PS5 games so far from a visual standpoint. Housemarque's track record speaks for itself, so odds are thatReturnal will live up to the hype, but fans will just have to wait and play it come April 30 to find out for sure. The first quarter of 2021 is coming to a close, and traditionally, it's one of the slowest times for new video game releases. New game releases should start heating up over the next few months before slowing down again in the summertime, and it looks like April is getting the second quarter started off with a bang.
April 2021 is shaping up to be a rather big month for the video game industry, with at least 10 major new releases coming in the weeks ahead. August looks to be one of the better summer months for new video game releases, headlined by a number of indie game launches, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, and Civ-like Humankind. 2021 may not be as big as some years for video games , but that doesn't mean you'll be starved for new games throughout the year. Lots of games have been delayed to 2022, but plenty are hitting their release dates as well.
Whether you have a PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, or PC, you'll absolutely be able to find at least something to get excited about before year's end. There's a little something for everyone, no matter what genres you're into, or which console you own. Interestingly, most people who are stuck at home due to COVID-19 are trying out video games for the first time in their lives. And if you are one of those people, then it's normal for you to search for popular video games to play in 2021.
Well, you're in luck, because in this article, we are going to mention some of the most popular video games in 2021 that you must try out. Gotham Knights was originally scheduled to launch sometime in 2021, but many fans predicted that a delay was inevitable. So it's not surprising that the next big Batman game has been pushed to 2022. Warner Bros. casually announced the game's new launch window with a generic message about giving the game more development time. At this point, it's more shocking when major studio games release on time, rather than when they don't. For fans of the Five Nights at Freddy's series, the road to the upcoming Security Breach has been a long one.
The horror game was originally supposed to launch in late 2020, but it was quietly pushed to early 2021. Four months into the year and we hadn't heard a peep about a release date. Now creator Scott Cawthorn has confirmed that the game is moving to late 2021, putting it a full year out from its original launch window.
Cawthorn notes that the game's scale has ballooned during the development process and it requires more time and money to complete. The Left 4 Dead spiritual successor was supposed to launch this summer, but it has been delayed to October 12. No specific reason was cited for the move outside of the usual "need more time" note.
The good news is that the multiplayer game will get an open beta this summer. So, fortunately, players will still get a chance to play it around the time the full game was supposed to launch. Camden Jones is one of Screen Rant's gaming features editors.
He loves video games, but he's even more interested in the people who make and play them. Racing fans can always count on a new Gran Turismo game every few years, and 2021 will finally bring Gran Turismo 7to the PlayStation 5. A spiritual return to form for the series, Halo Infinitehas already seen its fair share of development issues. Multiple game directors have left Halo Infinite development, and the game's infamously ugly 2020 gameplay demo graphics leave it in a precarious position.
Developer 343 Industries promises Infinite will live up to the series' legacy, however, and has said it is listening to fans' feedback. Time will tell whether Halo Infinite can succeed on Xbox Series X, but its rocky development history suggests it may not meet its fall 2021 release window. Unfortunately, if recent events have shown gaming fans anything, it's that anticipation is a dangerous drug. Cyberpunk 2077 was perhaps 2020's most anticipated video game, but its buggy launch and pervasive, lawsuit-inciting issues on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One proved it may not have been worth the massive hype. Lucky for you, game studios and subscription services offer a handful of free titles every month. It has been a slow start to the year for video games so far and, to be honest, it's likely to be a slow middle as well.
I started it, I got a little bit into the first section of the game. But I also bought Dead Cells the same day, and decided to give that a try too. Switched over to Dead Cells to give that a try for 30 to 45 mins, but found it much more fun, so ended up putting 100+ hours into it, and had a blast. Went back to Hollow Knight for a little bit, and it was ok. I've gone back to Hollow Knight a few times, as I do plan on beating it.
I keep hearing tons of people consider it the greatest game ever, etc. And I think it's good, but I haven't fully put a lot of time into it. I was going to say ok, this is it, I'm going to sit down and fully play it, and beat it. But then Hades came out , so I switched to Hades to give that a chance, and boom, loved that game and put another 100+ hours into that immediately. I'll play for a little bit, but then get sidetracked with another great game that I'm just compelled to play more. But I have it ranked as the lowest game on my list of games that I want, from this list, as I wanted to love part 1, but kept getting distracted with games that I had a lot more fun with.
